Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping. I’ve had to buy car parts, sporting equipment for my kids and towels for a recently repainted bathroom. I just received a deposit into my paypal account for about $50 because I used one of those “click here first” sites called Ebates.
All I had to do was create a login account and visit the Ebates site first. From there I could search for whatever it was that I needed and see the rebate amounts for each store.
So, for example, I wanted to buy towels from Kohls. Yes, I could have gone to the store and bought them, but I got a 6% rebate back for my purchase through Ebates. To top it off, I earned Kohl’s cash, got my Yes2You Rewards and used my Kohl’s charge to pay (earning MVP status). Then, I went to ShopwithScrip.com and bought Kohl’s Scrip which supports my children’s school and used the Scrip to pay my charge. I was pretty excited as the discounts rolled in. Every penny counts, right?
When I first signed up on Ebates, they sent me a $10 gift card for signing up and making my first purchase through their link. I actually received a physical gift card for Walmart (because that was the store I picked) in the mail.
Even businesses can save using Ebates. I was searching for Autodesk software downloads so one of my kids can work on his school project at home. I found out it was free for students, but it’s pretty expensive stuff for commercial use. I did see that today’s Ebates rebate for that site was 12%. I thought, “Wow. 12% of a big bill is a big savings.”
Anyway….I just wanted to share this money-saving tidbit because I’m pretty happy with it. And, that’s another reason why I love the internet!
